Shift Briefings

We are thinking about stopping our shift briefings and posting officers post assignments in one location that they can go to for their daily post assignment and to read the briefing sheet for alerts.  In this manner we do not have a gathering of officers in one room.  Has anyone else stopped or revamped their shift briefings and if so how are you briefing the oncoming shift?

We have stopped briefing.  A supervisor will be posted outside the employee entrance prior to start of shift with a nurse who will check temperatures.  The supervisor will advise assignments, report refusals, and report employees that are sent home.  Contractors are also being checked prior to entering the facility.

We are doing the same here in Osceola as Sarasota is doing.  We pre-screen all staff and visitors before they can enter the building and have stopped shift briefing.

    Stay safe everyone!

We stopped doing squad meetings last week.  As staff come in to work they are given their post assignment and instructed to read the interwatch on our internal website.  So far it has gone pretty well.  We have also been posting videos to staff on our internal website as a training and communication tool between command staff and line staff with this going on.

All command staff meetings are now done by WebEx to keep all of us out of the same room to avoid the entire command staff being taken out by an infection as a precaution

We stopped ours starting last Monday, March 16th.  We give the assignments as they come thru the front door and they report to their stations and we send out any alerts, updates and necessary information thru email.  We have a shift commander checking staff in as they come thru the doors and any important information that relates to a certain unit we inform them as they are checking in.  Any information that needs to be given out, they are also told as they are checking in, but for most part the information is sent out at the beginning of the shift thru email to the housing units.

    Greetings,

We have suspended all roll calls where attendance was taken, roll call training and notes were read, and of course daily assignments put out.  We track their attendance by our payroll ADP program because they punch in daily.  The notes are put out on our Sharepoint site and officers are ordered to read them daily when they get to their assigned post.  They walk by the sergeant's office and look at the roster to see where they are assigned. It cuts back on having everyone together for an extended period of time.

    Stay safe!!

We stopped our shift briefings Monday.  All officers are assigned to a post for 2 weeks.  We have the shift supervisors relay information to staff based on their post.

We have stopped doing staff briefings and post Officers work locations on a main door near the entrance. We have also asked Officers to stay in their post locations and not visit other areas, unless they have to go and assist with something.

We have stopped our before shift briefings. We have all officers upon arrival and after having their temperature taken, report to shift supervisor for assignment. Any important topics that are essential to employees are posted on our website and all officers are required to check daily.

That was the last step we took to control the virus from coming in. Social distancing is very difficult to maintain in a jail but we do what we can.
