I was browsing the AJA Career Center today and noticed that, across all job categories, there are currently only nine job postings.
Nine.
Now, I know the corrections profession well enough to say with some confidence that we have more than nine job openings across the country. 😄 So, why aren't we taking greater advantage of this AJA member benefit?
I recently posted two positions:
- One posted August 13 has already received 85 views - roughly 12 views per day.
- Another posted August 18 has received 11 views - about 5.5 views per day.
That works out to roughly 9 views per day, per posting between the two. Not bad for an additional recruiting platform that costs AJA members exactly $0.
That's right: posting a position in the AJA Career Center is included with your membership. There is no charge for members.
For non-members, a 45-day career ad is $100.
We constantly talk about staffing, recruitment, retention, and how difficult it is to reach qualified candidates. Here is another tool already sitting in our toolbox-and apparently collecting a little dust.
So, my friendly challenge to fellow AJA members: If your agency is hiring, post those openings in the Career Center!
Oh…and while you're there, feel free to check out my two postings too. I certainly won't complain about a few more views.
