My department is being encouraged to move toward continuous real-time monitoring of all CCTV cameras, which given the size of our operation and current staffing, is not feasible. Our policy requires designated facility supervisors to conduct frequent camera audits; however, real-time monitoring is limited to spot checks and focused viewing of active significant incidents. I am seeking some best practices and lessons learned from others who may have systems already in place.
