I am attending a meeting in Washington, DC next week to discuss the ongoing congenital syphilis epidemic and the importance of addressing it as a public health priority. I was asked to participate as a voice to ensure that jails are recognized as critical settings for the testing, treatment, and linkage to care of women at risk, while also highlighting the operational realities and challenges associated with implementing screening programs in correctional environments.

I was looking for any thoughts or ideas you would like me to consider:

*What specific challenges are you facing in your jails when it comes to congenital syphilis?

*Are there any federal policy changes that would help with addressing congenital syphilis in jails?

*What specific challenges have you seen that women (with congenital syphilis) released from jail have post release or as they reenter the community?
