Good afternoon,
Does anyone provide their civilian staff (Nurses, Chaplains, Counselors etc.) with training on how to respond to the various emergencies that can occur in a jail? For example, a Nurse is conducting pill call and is assaulted by an inmate, or a counselor is in an open bay unit when a fight kicks off.
The reality is that our civilian staff in the jail are in or around jail emergencies very often, and sometime their response, or lack thereof, causes greater danger for both them and our responding security staff.
I am looking for training geared towards proper response/ reaction to the numerous emergencies that could be experienced while working in the Jail. It would be greatly appreciated, if you could provide information on any training programs that cater to this need.
Just for clarification, I am not asking for training in which the civilian is the responding staff member to an emergency. I just want to help them navigate not becoming a causality of an emergency.
