Looking for some input on the pros and cons of outer carriers with or without plates for detention. During a recent poll I conducted almost all detention staff requested that they wanted a load-bearing vest to take the weight of the gear off the back and hips. It's no secret if you are working in a housing unit conducting security rounds you are doing a lot of walking. After presenting this to administration the biggest concern they had was that wearing an outer carrier would present another item that the detainees could grab ahold of during an altercation. I am hoping to get some feedback if this has been an issue with outer carriers in anyone's facility. Thanks
