Currently, our agency as a whole is in the process of reviewing the pre-training requirements for each promotional position i.e., FTO, Corporal, Sgt. Lieutenant, Command Staff, etc. As we are working through this as a department, I am finding that our current list of required training for each position is more patrol centered. We have identified several leadership training courses, but I would also like to include trainings that are more detention centered. Would anyone, if you require certain trainings in order to promote, be willing to share those required trainings? It would be nice to compare what we have now with other agencies. Are we on the right track?
Even if you don't have any specified training requirements for promotion in your agency, if there are any trainings you've attended personally and would like to recommend those too, that would be appreciated as well.
