During the Sheriffs Conference in Omaha, my sheriff learned about facilities utilizing a suicide prevention hotline for inmates. The system provides a dedicated phone number on the agencies website so family and friends can immediately contact the control room if they believe their loved one is at risk of self-harm.
Does anyone have policies or post orders for this type of hotline? I am also interested in learning what measures are in place to prevent the line from being abused.
